<image:title>What We Offer - The studio space.</image:title>
<image:caption>White on white - floors, walls and ceilings. Natural light floods the 60m2 studio (12m x 5m) from the south and east in the mornings via over-height recycled timber doors and French doors, a large pane of glass and a large roller door. Softer, filtered light is available in the afternoons through these openings. The archway has soft light in the morning and brighter light in the afternoons from the north, creating a Mediterranean vibe. A pitched ceiling rakes from 3 metres at the sides to 4.5 metres in the centre. Several power points are positioned both in the ceiling and low on the walls, and we have installed two speed-controlled fans for reducing the temperature by up to 6 degrees in the space during summer. All downlighting is adjustable via dimmers if using the space for a workshop or event and we include a Bluetooth speaker for tunes. The 3.5 x 3.5m roller door is ideal for loading in and out, large enough for most furniture, props and gear.</image:caption>

These gardens have been a labour of love for almost a decade and you are welcome to use them as a backdrop for your photoshoot. From the majestic black bamboo to the huge tropical leaves of the monstera and heliconias, through to the grey green foliage of our natives, there are some truly beautiful opportunities. If you spot some foliage in the garden that you would like to use as part of your studio shoot, please ask us and we’ll usually be happy to accommodate.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Story - And so she was transformed.</image:title>
<image:caption>Initially we had planned to turn the shed into a simple photo studio for our brand but word got around and as she blossomed, we realised she was too good not to share. We worked with an amazing team of trades to bring our vision to life over four months, adding all the necessary features like insulation and interesting design details as we went along. We chose recycled and eco-friendly materials wherever possible, while also keeping in mind the need for a fresh, light and hardwearing space. The oversized timber entrance doors are handcrafted with recycled Burmese teak and the white French doors are from a salvage yard. We’ve also included a beautiful archway with soft corners, reminiscent of Mediterranean architecture and large windows for abundant natural light. These features all serve as beautiful backdrops for fashion and homewares shoots alike, while adding to the overall atmosphere of the space. Our new office is still in a corner of the shed, but don’t worry, we won’t bother you. We’ll be there to greet you and are available if you need us but will also respect your privacy. We might have a quick chat at the coffee machine in the shared kitchen if we happen to be there at the same time!</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Story - A new life.</image:title>
<image:caption>The studio is located on our private property and the surrounding tropical and native gardens have been a labour of love for many years. Gardening is one of our passions and we’re proud to include them as part of our hire offering. We envisage the large tropical leaves acting as a stunning backdrop for a Summer fashion shoot. Dusty grey-green leaf tones of natives like wattle, banksia and grevillea offer year-round beauty. Don’t be shy to ask if you would like some leaves cut for your studio shoot - we’ll usually be happy to accommodate. With 17 years experience in small business, we appreciate that it’s not always an easy ride, which is why we’ve chosen to create something truly unique for other small business owners to use and enjoy. Our aim is to provide a relaxed space in a beautiful environment for brands and businesses from the region and beyond. Come and soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the hinterland while creating your next campaign or imagery for your brand. We welcome you to our creative space. Shannon and Mick xx</image:caption>

<image:title>Sustainability - Recycling and composting.</image:title>
<image:caption>We include compostable coffee pods and tea bags as part of your hire and encourage you to place these in the compost bin provided - along with any food waste and other compostable items - to be returned to the earth. A recycling bin is also available in the kitchen. You will find a modern compost toilet in the bathroom (behind the arched wall pictured). It is well ventilated and we provide natural, odour neutralising hemp fibres to place in the toilet after each use. It’s clean, simple and truly sustainable! We also use compostable bin liners and sanitary bags, recycled paper products from Who Gives A Crap and eco-friendly cleaning methods. For events, we will supply compostable bamboo plates and cutlery.</image:caption>

<image:title>Sustainability - Water.</image:title>
<image:caption>Living and working on a rural property that only has access to rainwater makes us acutely aware of how precious this resource is. We collect the water for the studio from the roof into a large tank when it rains. It is carefully filtered so it’s safe for drinking from the kitchen. The modern compost toilet ensures we’re not using much-need water for flushing. All greywater from the dishwasher and kitchen & bathroom basins is piped straight back onto our gardens creating a full circle of water sustainability.</image:caption>

<image:title>Sustainability - Design and Energy.</image:title>
<image:caption>The entire shed has been insulated - in some cases double-insulated - to maintain optimum temperature throughout the building. We chose to create the studio on the southern side so it’s comfortable year-round for our clients. In the height of Summer, speed-controlled Airius fans (pictured) in the studio reduce the air temperature by up to 6 degrees. While painted plasterboard proved to be the most practical and cost-effective solution for walls and ceilings, we chose to line the ceilings in some areas - including the bathroom - with natural reed which provides wonderful acoustic and aesthetic properties. We also chose natural micro-cement and a recycled timber shelf for the bathroom. You will find a selection of handcrafted, natural fibre rugs and decorative items throughout the space which are from our Fair Trade business The Dharma Door.</image:caption>

<image:title>Sustainability - The natural environment.</image:title>
<image:caption>Our property was once a part of the Big Scrub rainforest which was a large continuous expanse of lowland subtropical rainforest in the northern rivers region prior to farming and development. We have a small patch of remnant rainforest that we are currently regenerating. Remnant areas are rich in diversity, supporting many species of flora and fauna and we are aiming to provide a healthy habitat for these species to flourish. Other parts of the property are mix of old growth trees, newer landscaped areas of sub-tropical and native plants, majestic tall bamboo, citrus and food trees. We’ve included meandering pathways through the gardens which you are welcome to use as a backdrop for your shoot. Throughout the year we see a diverse range of animals pass through the property including an array of beautiful birdlife from owls to black cockatoos, resident echidnas and bandicoots, local wallabies, possums, the occasional koala, large monitor lizards and a variety of snakes. For this reason, we encourage carpooling whenever possible to reduce the amount of traffic and noise on our quiet country road.</image:caption>
